Klaus Hermanns studied geology and received his doctorate from the University of Bonn. In 2010 he completed his Master of Evaluation at the University of Bonn. For almost 25 years he worked for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in the fields of municipal and environmental policy consulting, political education, the promotion of gifted young people and international cooperation. During his five years abroad, his focus was on strengthening civil society in northeastern and northern Brazil in environmental and social issues. An assistance in an evaluation of a human rights NGO by Misereor led him back to the northeast of Brazil in 2014. He then coordinated a research funding programme of innovation and transfer projects within the space administration of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). In October 2018, Klaus Hermanns started as an evaluator at DEval.
