Curiculum Vitae

Before his assignment at the DEval, Dr. Marcus Kaplan worked for the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). His work there particularly focused on climate change in African agriculture – mitigation and adaptation, vulnerability of socio-ecological systems in rural areas, and agriculture in the international climate negotiations within the UNFCCC. He completed his PhD in geography at the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Institute for Environment and Human Security of the United Nations University (UNU-EHS) and the Center for Development Research (ZEF). This included his successful participation in the Doctoral Program at ZEF in 2005. His experience in the field is mainly drawn from research conducted in Sri Lanka and Ghana.
